On 5 September, great classical music returns to BAM for the third straight year with the Back to the City Concert. The evening will open with Stefano Bollani’s Concerto Azzurro, played by the “Giuseppe Verdi” Milan Symphony Orchestra directed by Paolo Silvestri, with Bollani himself at the piano. Along with the enthusiasm of an extremely attentive and responsive crowd, the great concert on the fields of Portanuova will feature Rhapsody in Blue, a masterpiece with a succession of African-American rhythmic liveliness and the melancholic moments of blues: an overwhelming success composed in 1924 by George Gershwin, who was awarded the Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1974. A Rose Among Thorns (with an arrangement by Maestro Paolo Silvestri), from the unforgettable soundtrack of The Mission, will end the concert as a tribute to Ennio Morricone, a year after his passing.
See you at BAM, in the Cedar Tree Area, on 5 September at 8:30 p.m.
